NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
The Introductory (or Learn to Row) program is designed to provide individuals that have had little or no exposure to the sport (as well as those that have been away from it for an extended period) a comprehensive introduction to the skills they will need to become competent at propelling a rowing shell. Following the Introductory program, participants will have the option of pursuing the sport with Essex Rowing in either a recreational or competitive capacity along with other rowers of a comparable skill level.

The Novice program is a natural extention of the introductory session. Emphasis will be placed on developing proficiency in the technical nuances required to move a rowing shell quickly and efficiently on the water. Aerobic endurance of novice athletes will be developed extensively in conjuction with their technical training, which will shift between use of on-the-water rowing, indoor rowing machines, and indoor rowing tanks as appropriate. Athletes will be paired with teammates of similar goals and skill levels whenever possible.
